After a sleepy morning enjoy a scenic drive to Orvieto. Orvieto is a small city perched on a rock cliff and famous for its Duomo di Orvieto, dating from 1290. The Pozzo di San Patrizio ( St. Patrick) is a 16th-century well shaft with a double spiral staircase.
~ 175 feet deep, 45 feet wide and 496 steps down ~
Upon arrival into Orvieto, enjoy a private walking tour of this beautiful Etruscan town. With its most beautiful cathedral and the underground city with her tunnels, galleries, wells, stairs, quarries, cellars, unexpected passageways, cisterns, detailing its creation over the centuries. Many of the homes of noble and rich families were equipped with a means of escape from the elevated city during times of siege through secret escape tunnels carved through the rock. These tunnels would lead from the city palazzo to emerge at a safe exit point some distance away from the city walls. Overnight in Orvieto with a special truffle dinner designed by TYW including Orvieto wine.

Relax in these warm healing waters as you prepare for your last journey to Rome – The Eternal City.
Enter Roma ~ Rome is without doubt one of the most beautiful cities in the world; every year millions of tourists come from around the world to admire the treasures and masterpieces of Roman art and architecture, incredible cuisine and wine. Enjoy your evening walk exploring Baroque Rome beginning with the Pantheon, Rome’s oldest intact building and one of the best preserved ancient buildings in the world. Be sure to check out behind the Pantheon to Piazza della Minerva, where you’ll find the beautiful Santa Maria Sopra Minerva, Rome’s only Gothic style church. Visit the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain and end this day in the Piazza Navona with two famous Baroque fountains designed by Bernini.
Day 10 – Wednesday, September 16, 2020 Rome
Overnight: Rome Meals Included: B
The next adventure begins with your grand tour of the Vatican City. St. Peter’s Basilica is without a doubt the grandest of churches. You will discover the beauty of the Pieta, the breathtaking interior work of Bernini and then the incredibly restored Sistine Chapel, one of the greatest chapels of the Vatican City and of the world in general. It is known as much for its decoration, as for being the temple in which popes are chosen and crowned. It is not the architecture that impresses, but the frescoes that completely cover the walls and the ceiling. Some of the most important artists who worked in the chapel are Botticelli, Perugino, Luca and Michelangelo. This is where I recommend having a small set of binoculars.
After lunch continue to Ancient Rome following in the path of Caesar. Tour Ancient Rome, ( the largest amphitheater in the world) from the Colosseum to the famous Forum, where you see the Arch of Titus, the Palatine Hill and the Arch of Constantine.
